Educational Program
The Loxton Historical Village is alive, exciting and very hands-on with creative, stimulating and interactive experiences for school students.
The museum recreates a wonderful feeling for life in the early 19th century inland Australia.
Comprehensive programs for visits include a range of hands-on-activities, carried out within the vast grounds of the Village.
Our education program offers a number of programs including:
- Making and cooking damper on a wood fire
- Butter making
- Rope making and blacksmithing
- Experiencing early school life (Teaches students about the difference between their own education and 19th century schooling). During lessons students use dip pens and ink, etc. At recess they enjoy 19th century games with marbles, knucklebones, skipping just to name a few.
- Experiencing life without electricity
- Orientation/treasure hunt
Programs can be tailored to individual school requirements.
